The casting number on the head is, but the actual part number is, and added 10 more horsepower. There's some carbon deposits in the area of the number 1 cylinder, but the rest look good.
With a little bit of work, I think someone can have a nice rare head.
But have a us.
My research shows that this was an option on motors that bumped the compression from 6. Sorry, but due to past problems with the us. Please look closely at those pictures to determine how much work this head will need. There are some other holes that i'm not sure if they're supposed to be there or not.
This is a factory original Hudson 8 cylinder aluminum power dome high compression head. This head is not finned like the aftermarket Edmund's or offense heads, but it does only weigh 19 pounds.
I've checked the spark plug and water neck threads, and they're all good. Now the bad news.
This head is real good looking on the outside, and will clean up real nice if it gets bead blasted, or leave it as is for original patina. In the pictures below, i've written bad by the hole that I know isn't supposed to be there, and put question marks by the holes i'm not sure about.
On the bottom or under side, there's a hole that's corroded into the area for the number 8 cylinder.
These were made by Alcoa, and Alcoa is embossed on the head. I will guarantee it to be received as described. It uses a different spark plug number than the standard cast iron head.
I'm selling this as is, needing to be repaired to be usable.
