Don't miss this nice pair. The 427 was a fresh built engine in a fresh water jet boat. These heads were used by gm on 1966 l78 396 375hp, 427 425hp, and 427 450hp engines. The date code on both heads is b it turns out it was not funny.
The externals of the heads are completely stock and look great. The nicks are cosmetic only and will not effect operation. This is a pair of original gm cylinder heads for a big block Chevy engine. These are real deal mid year 66 heads.
These heads are in awesome condition as shown. One chamber has some nicks in it from a screw dropping in a cylinder as described above. The owner's grandson thought it would be funny to drop a screw down one of the exposed carbs on the tunnel ram on the engine. Don't miss out.
The screw went into a cylinder made a ruckus. The casting number on each head is the heads also have a very thick deck surface and the combustion chambers have never been modified. These heads came to me along with a block which is in my other listings.
These heads were also used as a direct replacement for casting numbers, , and these heads are the high performance versions with rectangular intake ports and closed combustion chambers. Finding a mid year set of 1966 hi perf heads without porting is very hard to do without making a deal with the devil.
This decodes as Feb 26th, one chamber on one of the heads got some nicks on the flat areas as shown but there is no mechanical damage to the heads. The result was a cracked cylinder. There are no breaks or repairs.
The ports are also completely stock with no porting or debarring. The grandpa was disgusted and never put the boat back together after disassembling the engine.
